Johnston farmers market makes its case

The Johnston Farmers’ Market will hold its 4th market of the season Tuesday.Radishes, asparagus, onions, greens, kohlrabi and just-picked strawberries are available, as are pies, cakes, cookies, breads, jams, fudge, freshly roasted cinnamon nuts of all kinds, Asian vegetables, kettle korn, crafts, metal art, flowers, vegetable plants such as tomatoes, peppers and herbs, mr. Bibb’s BBQ and food from miss Classy, fresh eggs, frozen chickens and fair market coffee beans. Oh yeah, and get your knives and scissors sharpened, too.The vendors depend on you for their success. Make it a habit to stop each Tuesday between 3 and 7 p.m., rain or shine, and buy local. Listen to music a couple of times a month as well. The market is a Lions Club project, with proceeds going to the city’s residential tree program.
