Peru Green Coffee Beans (Raw Unroasted) Organic Fair Trade SMBC

The La Florida Organic Farmers Cooperative is located in Northwestern Peru's mountainous Chanchemayo region alongside the Yurinaki and Ubiriki rivers. Established in 1966, the cooperative is one of the great examples of positive community development and social change.

The 1,500-plus member La Florida Cooperative works to improve their communities by supporting local education, providing programs on organic farming, agronomy, and other topics with the aim of promoting leadership and creativity. The Cooperative owns a tractor which they use to build roads and La Florida provides small low-interest loans to members, with a long term goal of offering micro-financing to other local organizations as well.

This hard bean, washed coffee is high grown, between 4,800 and 6,000 feet which produces wonderful character in the cup. It can be roasted from medium to XX dark and should result in a very well balanced cup with medium body, crisp acidity, bold sweet caramel aroma with a milk chocolate start and creamy, light, supremely satisfying finish.
