QUESTION:
Store Bought Coffee Pods vs Making Your Own Coffee Pods?
My grandmother has one of those coffee makers that uses coffee pods. She loves it, but the pods get a little pricey for her. I've seen commercials for machines you can use to make your own coffee pods. I was looking for one for her for Christmas, but I can't seem to find any information on them. Does anybody have any experience with "make your own coffee pod" machines? And if so, any suggestions for a specific make/model?-
ANSWER:
You're probably going to have the best success with the Perfect Pod Maker. Most other devices like the EcoPad don't work well. You can also easily make your own pods with simple coffee filters, but I wouldn't go that route for the typical Grandmother. The Perect Pod maker will let her use her favorite coffee to make standard sized, heat sealed coffee pods. While the pods work great, I have heard varying longevity stories regarding the pod maker itself. Some people haven't gotten a year out of it before it quit. Personally, I stick to high quality pods like Fratello from www.thecoffeeartisan.com They're only about 40 cents per pod and brew an 8 oz. cup.

QUESTION:
Is it possible to use a battery to power a coffee maker?
I want to get one of those coffee makers that use the little pods, but I don't have any where to plug it in, is there some battery and converter I could get that would work to power it?-
ANSWER:
>Is it possible to use a battery to power a coffee maker?Yes. But you would need a very large battery; it's not really practical unless you are powering it from a car or something like that.
Even then you would have to connect the inverter directly to the battery; you can't get that amount of power out of a lighter/power port.
(An inverter is a device that takes battery power and converts it to something like what you get when you plug something into a wall outlet.)

QUESTION:
Do any of you use a Senseo brand coffee maker?
The kind that uses the coffee pods, and makes one cup at a time?
My sister in law thinks they are fantastic, and has one at home and one at work- she thinks they are the greatest invention since sliced bread. I think they are very expensive and over-rated.
Anyone really love them?-
ANSWER:
I got one last year, I love it! I am a single guy so the one cup at a time brewing method is great for me.
I find that it brews a smoother cup of java compared to regular drip coffee makers.
The coffee pods are a little on the expensive side, but I don't mind spending a little more for a better end product.
The unit it's self was a little pricey, but I really do think it was worth it.
The way I see it, If you are a coffee lover, it's worth it to pay a little more for this unit, even with it's high price, it still ends up costing less than buying coffee from places like Starbucks, or other coffee houses. (By the way, I really don't like Starbucks. I find their coffees to be really over-rated, and very over-priced)
